This album rules. How’s that for descriptive? This Los Angeles duo, comprised of Matt Gangi and Eric Chramosta, has managed to slam together a thoughtful and eclectic 53 minutes of sound in gesture is. Still not descriptive enough? Here are more adjectives:

It’s psychedelic, it’s poppy, it’s grungy, it’s retro, it’s fresh, it’s noisy, it’s quiet, and yes, it’s rather good.

If that sounds like gushing, that’s because it is. But lest objectivity be called into question, just listen to the opening track, “Railways nos. 1-27,” and you tell me if I’m out of line. If the last minute alone doesn’t encourage you to greedily devour the rest of the album, you’ve got debris in your ears. Scoop it out and try again, would be my advice.

The gorgeous vocal arrangements in “Gold” surely will get you. Or “Perfect Citizen,” which sounds like a grooved-up Rush song with a better hook and inoffensive vocals.

The album’s opening line is, “Hey, you’ve got to pay attention.” Excellent advice. There’s a ton to listen to here.
